Dear East End Families,
In November, we will celebrate Veterans Day as a school family. We are hosting a Veterans Breakfast to honor all veterans and their students on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 7:30 a.m.
We are also creating a special Veterans Wall of Fame to display throughout the week. If you or a family member have served in the armed forces, we would love to recognize you! Please send a photo to the front office. On a notecard or sticky note, include:
Your child’s name and homeroom teacher
The veteran’s name
Rank
Branch or department of service
At East End Elementary, we believe it’s important to honor those who served and to help our students understand the value of service and sacrifice.
Thank you for helping us celebrate our heroes!

🎃🌿 Pumpkin Exploration in the Outdoor Classroom! 🍂🐾
Our first graders put their scientist hats on this week as they explored their pumpkins from last week’s field trip — this time in our outdoor classroom! 🧪✨
Students used their talents and curiosity to observe, measure, and investigate their pumpkins up close. Hands-on learning, fresh air, and fall fun — what a perfect combo! 💛🍁

🚍🔋 Roper Mountain Science Center Field Trip! 🔦⚡️
Today our students had an energizing day at Roper Mountain! They explored different types of energy—potential, kinetic, chemical, sound, and electrical—through hands-on learning and experiments.
💨 In “Need for Speed,” students tested cars and ramps to study potential and kinetic energy, collecting data and creating speed graphs.
💡 In “Light Heist,” they became detectives, using the properties of light—like color, reflection, and shadows—to solve a museum theft mystery!
🔌 In “Powerful Decisions,” they learned to wire circuits and make connections with snap circuits to see how energy flows.
We even enjoyed a fun in-shelter picnic lunch before heading home.
A big THANK YOU to our amazing chaperones for helping make the day a success! 💙🐾

📚💛 Celebrating Ms. Sawyer — Our Amazing Reading Coach! 💛📚
This week, we celebrated Ms. Sawyer for National Instructional Coach Day! 🎉
Ms. Sawyer supports our teachers, students, families, and leadership team in countless ways. She plans lessons, models effective reading instruction, analyzes student data, and helps teachers strengthen their classroom practices so that every child becomes a confident reader. She also partners with families to share strategies for reading success at home and helps guide our schoolwide literacy initiatives — from small-group instruction to big family events!
In South Carolina, Reading Coaches play a vital role in ensuring that all students receive high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction. They provide professional learning for teachers, collaborate on interventions, and lead efforts to improve literacy outcomes for every grade level.
We are so thankful for Ms. Sawyer’s passion, expertise, and heart for our East End Bulldogs! 🐾❤️

Today was a great day at East End Elementary! ❤️
Our K4-2nd grade students had a blast learning about amazing creatures during the Scales and Tails Adventure presented by the Roper Mountain Science Center. 🐍🐢
Meanwhile, our 3rd-5th graders put their problem-solving skills to the test with Mrs. Britton, exploring coding and technology using the Mobile Learning Lab! 💻🤖

🌱 Gardening Club Fun! 🌱
Gardening Club is underway, and we had the best time with these smiling faces today! 🥰 We were amazed by the HUGE purple sweet potatoes we harvested—what a surprise! 💜🍠
We can’t wait to see what else will grow as we continue learning and digging in the dirt together. 🌾🐾
